A Great Holiday On The Water

Holidays are becoming more and more exhilarating. We are
all looking for new experiences that we can tell our
friends about and if they can make us use our minds and
bodies rather than just lie on a beach cooking. What is
different?

If you're still interested and haven't yet been converted
why not try a boating holiday? There are lots of totally
different holidays that you can have on the water in
different countries and seas that could keep you satisfied
for years to come.

Canal boats: These are particularly popular in the UK
where the canals are mostly clean and well kept (even those
going through large cities) and you have the chance to see
beautiful unspoilt countryside and visit lots of towns that
are close by. These boats are called 'narrow boats' and are
very long and narrow. The canals themselves are only
between three and four metres wide and therefore in order
for two boats to pass they have to be very narrow indeed.
They are, however, well equipped with modern boats having
showers and a full kitchen. Some are beautifully decorated
on the outside also and are a real joy to behold and to
stay in. Boats for rivers and for the Norfolk Broads in the
UK are wider and more of the expected build of a boat. The
Broads are a wonderful set of waterways that cut through
some of the most lovely countryside in East Anglia and go
right out to the sea at Great Yarmouth. There are lots of
forms of wild life to see and lovely English pubs that you
can moor alongside in order to sample English beer and pub
food.

It's not just the UK where you can sample such delights.
If you want to have the weather a little warmer then why
not try the canals of Burgundy in France where you can
visit the beautiful towns and villages in the heart of this
wine producing region. This really has to be the tops if
you're looking for a relaxing holiday whilst being on the
move.

If you want to be more adventurous you could hire many
types of yachts and boats in the Mediterranean. There are
companies that allow you to sail into the sophisticated
marinas in the south of France and others that offer a
week's tuition on a yacht and then you're allowed to sail
to any of the Greek islands. It's the perfect mixture of
exhilaration combined with relaxation where you see new
sights and learn new skills every day but there's still
time for lounging in the sun or having a wonderful, fresh
cooked meal in a small fishing village.

There are other parts of the world offering similar
holidays including the Caribbean. The world is literally
your oyster!
